The Led Black Book Club proudly presents Uptown Lit featuring Jon Michaud and Matthew Gallaway tonight at 7:30 pm at Word Up Books (4157 Broadway). This is a big deal; 2 celebrated authors discussing their novels as well as the vibrant and dynamic community that we all love so dearly.
When Tito Loved Clara by Jon Michaud rightfully made Oprah’s summer reading list as it is a true page turner that will not allow you to put it down until it is completed. I knew from the first paragraph that I would not really rest until this fascinating and titillating novel was consumed whole. Jon Michaud referred to his book as “a love letter to his wife and to Inwood.”
The Metropolis Case by longtime Washington Resident, Matthew Gallaway, which was released in December of last year quickly made a splash. Read what the NY Times had to say: “It’s to the credit of Matthew Gallaway’s enchanting, often funny first novel that it doesn’t require a corresponding degree of obsession from readers, but may leave them similarly transported: the book is so well written — there’s hardly a lazy sentence here — and filled with such memorable lead and supporting players that it quickly absorbs you into its worlds.” That is high praise from the most important newspaper in the world.
So there you have it, a must attend literary event at Word Up Books tonight. A limited number of copies of both books will be available for purchase.
