Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with “The Candle”, a short documentary film about New York City artist Marthalicia Matarrita and her brothers Tomas and Jorge. Through their many challenges growing up, they all shared one common means of escaping the harsh realities of their environment – their love of art.
Shot outside at the Tinton Avenue projects and inside a sweltering basement studio in the Bronx where Marthalicia and her brothers came together to paint for the first time in several years.
Video produced and directed by Dan Perez & Ruben Perez
