Inspired by the world renowned El Sistema music program and led by Abreu Fellow’ 11 David Gracia, WHIN Music Project will offer a 2-week intensive choral and orchestral program for children and youth in the community that will end with a final public performance. All students admitted to the program will be in full scholarship and there is a $50 service/participation fee. No student will be turned away for economic reasons. There will be opportunities for parents to volunteer, for youngsters to be music mentors to younger students and for local musicians to engage in the program. This summer program is the first step in establishing an El Sistema program in Northern Manhattan.
