This just in from the Word Up volunteer collective:
We have been granted a small extension at our current location and will be allowed to remain through August 31st! Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our friends, neighbors, customers and local politicians for helping us continue to provide our community with the services and space it needs.
That said, WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! The collective is still avidly working on making the best decision regarding the space we’ll move into after our time at 4157 Broadway, and is still welcoming any leads that you can provide as to our future home. The ideal space would be centrally located in Washington Heights with a lot of foot traffic, close to our current ~1000 square feet, would include a stage and storage space, and would be at a subsidized rental rate. If you have ideas, suggestions, or direct links to such a space, please contact us as soon as possible.
Many things are in motion, but nothing is conclusive yet, so please continue to send in suggestions, volunteer your time at the store, come buy books, donate to help us with initial costs of setting up a new space, or join the CSB to help us through these next important steps.
As always, to stay updated, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and please visit the store when you can. Our summer hours are 2-9pm. We’ll try and keep the place stocked with the most updated information on paper and in person.
Stay tuned!
