Speaking of Fort Tryon Park, The Fort Tryon Park Trust held its 4th annual Toast to Fort Tryon Park last night to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this truly wonderful park. The Friends Committee of the Fort Tryon Park Trust put together an evening of wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, and live music to benefit Fort Tryon Park. Proceeds from this year’s Toast To Fort Tryon Park will be used for a tree care fund to help repair and restore park trees following the extensive storm damage incurred this past winter. I had a blast, trying almost every single wine that the incredible Cabrini Wines had to offer. Not even the occasional rain showers stopped the show. I also got a chance to speak to the night’s honoree, Jim Dwyer, local resident, author and journalist. His columns in the About New York section of The New York Times are always insightful and informative. I even met neighborhood icon, Dr. Ruth, who has lived in the neighborhood for over 50 years. I ended the night very wine happy and all for a good cause – you can’t beat that.
