Or shoot her a text, and faster than Batman swooping in after spotting the signal in the sky, she’ll be there.
Amilka Vega is Washington Heights’ own traveling “Nail Lady.”
Vega, of Dominican descent, will quickly board the nearest train, bus or livery cab upon receiving word from a client. She travels already equipped with different nail polish flavors, a variety of brushes and, of course, the tools of the trade.
“A cuticle clipper, nail file, and acetone, those are the basics,” explains Vega. “I don’t care, I’ll travel anywhere. I’ve gone as far as Sheepshead Bay for a customer. She knows I’m dedicated.”
Vega has always had a fixation with nails, nail art and nail polish.
Now it’s turned into her career.
