Spread Love It’s The Uptown Way By @led_black I took this picture at exactly 8:56 pm this past Saturday on the little stretch of Cabrini Blvd that runs between 190th Street and Fort Tryon Park while I was walking the pooch. I hesitated posting it because as a rule I do not like to highlight negativity of any kind and this was definitely hateful and bigoted. But to be honest, I really wasn’t sure what the enigmatic and odious image meant but if the Trump name is on it you know it can’t be good. Anyway, I decided against posting it and promptly forgot about it. 2 days later, I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone had taken the time to put a big, beautiful heart over the detestable chicken scratch. (SWIPE LEFT) In the end, at least here in Uptown Manhattan, love does trump hate. Spread Love It’s The Uptown Way For Real. www.UptownCollective.com

Pajón Power: The Recap Our Editor-In-Chief, Led Black, sat down with the incomparable Miss Rizos for an expansive & enlightening conversation at the Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation on Saturday, October 26. The full-to-capacity crowd was treated to Miss Rizos expounding on her origins, her entrepreneurial leanings and so much more. A big shout-out goes out to Miss Rizos for taking time out from her newly opened salon to talk to the community. I am also thankful to State Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa (@cndelarosa) and New York State’s Human Rights commissioner Ángela Fernández for taking part in our event. Lastly, I am grateful to the UC’s Director of Operations, Kaity Modesto, as well as our talented team of volunteers for working so hard to make the event a success. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the executive director of the Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation, Laura Acosta, for letting us use this beautiful space for our event. Many thanks to Café Bustelo for believing in our mission and supporting our event. Stay tuned for info for more of these types of events in the near future. An Evening With Nike By Kaity Modesto Word on the street is that the new Foot Locker community store on 181 st. is proactively engaging the Latinx community Uptown. The community Power Store is one out of three in the country and has been working with local designers, artists, and representatives to cater to Uptown customers. A few weeks ago, I received an email invitation from Nike to attend a dinner and an evening of collaborative conversation at the Foot Locker Community Store. I signed up and hit up pal de amigos, including Led Black, to find out if they had also received the invitation. It turned out none of them had. So of course, I shared the registration link with mi gente only to later find out the event was exclusively for women. When I arrived, I had no idea what to expect, but I was happy to see that Nike and Foot Locker had done their homework. The seats were assigned and the tables were named after our avenues, including Fort Washington, Broadway, Audubon, Amsterdam, etc. Click link in bio or hit up www.UptownCollective.com for more…

The first snow of the season >>SWIPE>> Having moved to NYC in the summer this is a first for me and the family. Some of us have been in snow previously but never witnessed the transition seasons that bring on the snow. It was pretty cool watching the snowflakes get larger and blow around. It gives a visceral texture to the wind. I got dressed to walk around in the falling snow to snap some photos but by the time I got dressed and downstairs the snow turned to rain and I thought better of it. I hung out under the scaffolds and got a few shots and went back to cozyland.
