The AfroLatino Festival of New York celebrates the contributions that people of African descent from Latin America and the Caribbean have made to our city and the global culture as a whole. Now in its fourth year, the summer cultural event attracts a wide range of artists, both local and international, as well as entrepreneurs, academics and community leaders. With conferences, culinary presentations and artists showcases, the festival highlights the work, values and issues important to the Afro-Latino community.
The festival will include the following elements and more:
- Musical Performances:Tito Puente Jr., Nina Sky, Princess Nokia, Los Rakas, Maluca, & El CaribeFunk, just to name a few.
- Afrolatin Talk Conferences:Panelists will cover topics from transnational migration, immigration, human rights, BlackLatinx Feminism, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Representation and Cultural Heritage to Afro-Colombian Participation in the Colombia Peace Process.
- Film Screening:NYC debut of “Nana Dijo; Irresolute Radiography of Black Consciousness,” directed by Bocafloja & Cambiowashere.
- Late Night DJ Parties
