In 2010, when Benlly Polanco decided to open up Corcho Wine Room on the Dyckman strip, he was unsure of what would come of it.
For one, the idea of starting an establishment dedicated primarily to wine seemed a risk.
The fact that his new business would be, in fact, neatly tucked inside a strip more known for its liquor bottle service rather than for popping corks on fine vintage wine, was another concern.
“But it worked,” said Polanco. “The neighborhood reacted differently and decided that they wanted to try something new.”
