“Transcending Bourgeois: Mediocrity or Hope?”
By Celia B. Rabinowitz
“The only excuse for being an Artist is to make a difference”. Words uttered by 20th Century prodigy pianist and composer Glenn Gould left a tremendous impact on my life, mind and career. As an Artist I strive to go over and beyond the limitations I see in life. I hunger for more and strive to achieve this in my work. Creating art, for me, has always been a reflection of inner determination and perseverance, transcending my own personal struggles and sufferings. Art has taught me to ignore death and rejoice in life. Art also provides me with the serenity and freedom which I searched for all my life, in addition to a deeper connection to G-d. I admire greatness that I see in others and aspire to achieve wholeness in my life, body, mind and soul. For me this is the true meaning of Art.
