Sometimes it is only in hindsight that you can see when things have changed. To some, Apt 78’s Uptown Summer Series may not seem like a huge deal but if you are a fan of authentic Hip-Hop music and have lived in this neighborhood for awhile, you know that the Uptown Summer Series is nothing short of historic.
Last week, those in attendance were treated to an encore performance by the incomparable Flaco Navaja and his Razorblade Trio as well as Hip-Hop icon Bobbito spinning his signature blend of simply outstanding music on the 1’s and 2’s. That caliber of talent has been missing from the Uptown music scene for far too long.
Tomorrow night, the one and only DJ Spinna will be working his magic, followed by the globe-trotting DJ Rich Medina on August 9th and culminating with Hip-Hop Legend Pete Rock on August, 16th. What more could you ask for? Apt 78 in collaboration with Heineken have irrevocably altered the Uptown music landscape. The Uptown Summer Series – things done changed.
