It all goes down tomorrow. The Uptown Collective, the Bago Bunch and the People’s Theatre Project have come together like Voltron to put together an entire day of fantastic events at different venues throughout Uptown. From the Page to the Stage, a walking tour/literary extravaganza begins at Apt 78 (4447 Broadway) at 1 pm with the inaugural event of the Led Black Book Club featuring the celebrated author of When Tito Loved Clara, Jon Michaud. Then at 2 pm it is the final play of the People’s Theatre Project Spring Reading Festival, The Chalkboard Trilogy by Nancy Nevarez at the Inwood Public Library (4790 Broadway). Then for the finale of the night; American PlaceTheatre’s Literature to Life Stage Adaptations of THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO by Junot Diaz and DOWN THESE MEAN STREETS by Piri Thomas at the MalcolmX & Dr.Betty Shabazz Memorial & Educational Center (3940 Broadway) at 5 pm.
So there you have it, come out and enjoy a day like no other Uptown, put together by the young movers and shakers of the neighborhood. Join us in celebrating the arts and culture of this vibrant and wonderful community. You know the motto: Spread love it’s the Uptown way!
