The 40 Oz Bounce that Didn’t Happen or Did It

I have never seen so many cops in one place in my life. It literally looked like every cop in the city was in Washington Heights this past Saturday, all on the strength of one man. As a matter of fact, as I was making my ascent up 181st street on Broadway, en route to the much anticipated first 40 Oz Bounce of the season, I distinctly heard a cop say over the loud speaker of his police cruiser “the 40 Oz Bounce has been cancelled.” Say it ain’t so, and it was cancelled, well sort of.

While the actual event didn’t take place, the fact that this dude 40 Oz Van and his crew can round up thousands of people speaks volumes on the strength and resiliency of the 40 Oz brand. No lie, NYPD even arranged for the A train to bypass 181st street in both directions. I can imagine one of the upper level Police brass saying, ala Malcolm X, “no one man should have all that power.” Like I have said in the past, 40 Oz Van is a real life Cyrus from the Warriors movie, so it is only fitting that we once again end this recap with the following words from Cyrus, “I say, the future is ours… if you can count! Can you dig it?”
