On Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Praxis Housing Initiatives, Inc. invites New Yorkers to celebrate Black History Month with an Inspirational Evening of Poetry and Music that will take place at the cozy Taza de Café at 450 W. 155th St. Local poet Marilyn Thomas Knight (MTK) will emcee the event.
Also featured will be Gospel Songstress, Tara Robinson; multi-talented singer, dancer, actress and poet, Ashelle aka Educator Ange; Gospel Trio, Speakers of the House & Saint; poet-comics, Marcus John & Naa Aku and Demetrius Daniel, a gifted saxophone player and poet.
Anyone interested in reading original poetry should arrive at 7:00 p.m. sharp for the limited open-mic sign-up. Limit is one poem per person. Performers and audience members are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited.
