WINTER/SPRING WEEKLY CLASSES (FEB 7 – MAY 21):

Circle Up 1 | ages 6-9 | Saturdays | 9am-12pm
Circle Up 2 | ages 10-12 | Saturdays | 9am-12pm
To Be Heard | ages 13-17 | Saturdays | 12pm-3pm
To Be Heard Afterschool | ages 13-17 | Tuesdays | 4-6pm
Uptown Action | adults 18 and up | Wednesdays | 6:30pm-8:30pm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In each of the programs, community actors will work together with their peers and a professional Artist/Activist/Educator to conceive, create and perform an original theatrical piece inspired by self-selected social justice themes.

Throughout the process, participants will take part in theatre games and activities to build confidence and capacity for self-expression and team work.

The work of all 5 groups will culminate in a festival of social justice theatre offerings the weekend of May 19-21.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Anyone ages 6 and up can register. No experience is necessary. All community members who are committed to consistent attendance and group participation are encouraged to apply.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
Participants are expected to attend all weekly rehearsals between Feb 7 – May 21 and performances. Those who miss more than 2 rehearsals may not be invited to perform.

A mandatory parent orientation will be held on the scheduled start date of each youth program.

No rehearsals will be held during Mid-Winter or Spring Breaks.

WHAT IS THE COST?
All programs are offered free of charge.

WHERE DO THE PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE?
Most programs take place at the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center located at 530 West 166th Street.

TO BE HEARD After-school program will take place at the United Palace Theatre located at 4140 Broadway at 175th St.
