Uptown Poetry: Tales of a Dyckman Princess – The Truth

Emmanuel Abreu - Couple

I loved him from the minute I met him

We’ve parted ways since

Pictures made sense of our glory

But slowly we drifted

A lot of influences

And not enough maturity to handle it all

Wish we could have seen it through

If we are to meet again

After his hello I would say

“I still love you”

He would look at me in THAT way

“It was always you” I’d continue

We would stand there

He’d have no clue

And as he tried to make sense of it

I would walk away

All he deserved was the truth.
