If Andrea Lyn Haberman had grown up on the streets of Inwood with the fun-loving Meehan, Dolan or Dowd boys, she surely would have been one of the kid sisters they protected.

In piecing together the last terrifying moments of her young life, the Haberman family has come to believe that those guys – all working for Carr Futures on the 92nd floor – looked out for their new co-worker from rural Wisconsin as they frantically tried to get out of the burning World Trade Center alive.

“As we came to know these strong and kind families, it gave us a sense of peace that those with her that morning would not have left her alone. They would have helped. They ran out of time,” said Haberman’s grateful father, Gordon, who flew to New York after the terrorist attack to search for his daughter.

This is a New York love story – Inwood style. A story about how a neighborhood reeling from the terrorist attack adopted Andrea and the Haberman family as one of their own.
