Los Rakas have a way of making you want to grind. Not like dirty nasty grind, perreo style. More like fiercely get down, popping and locking and shit. Hardcore shoulder bounce and gangsta lean…you get the pictures. With “Soy Raka,” the Oakland via Panama duo introduced us to turfing and all its wonders, and they’ve since continued to keep out heads bopping with their unique blend of hip hop, reggae, and dancehall.

Maluca Mala is a NY native that’s toured the U.K. with Robyn on the strength of her first mixtape, China Food, and whose sound might be best described as Sleigh Bells, M.I.A. and Santogold by way of Washington Heights. (A certain high profile recording artist may or may not have have jacked Maluca’s beer-cans-as-rollers swag in a music video. “Born this way,” indeed…) A self made artist, this self-proclaimed “hood hipster” has been doing it hard for two years now; and as she’s also self-proclaimed broke, she’ll be the first to tell you it’s not for the money, but for the music.

The Brooklyn-based Brazilian ambassador (ambassadress?) of baile-funk, Zuzuka Poderosa began as a DJ when she arrived in the states ten years ago from her native Rio. But that was before her friends convinced her to start rhyming on the mic. Zuzuka Poderosa is a breath of fresh air in the international music scene.  With her unapologetic and hot Portuguese lyrics, Brazilian-bred and Brooklyn-based Zuzuka will give you your daily dose of head-boppin’ and booty shakin’!  Having DJ experience under the name of DJ Babyfresh, Zuzuka definitely knows what she’s talking about.  Don’t be surprised to find her packing NY’s nightclubs with her latest mix and spinning rare vinyl records.

DJ Comrade rounds out the evening, spinning baile-funk, hip-hop, kuduro, dubstep, and more. What sets Comrade apart from the pack? He performs live on his Akai MPD drum sampler, supporting tracks and creating original work on the fly, keeping the crowd on their toes, never bored with the average and the done-before.
